See if you can relate to the following statements. If you want something in life you are going to have to work for it. If you find a excellent company and work for them the next 30 or 40 years your future will be secure. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. These are just some of the statements I heard growing up. In all of my working years I have probably questioned the same questions a lot of other people question. Isn’t there a better way to support my family yet still have some extra time to invest in them? Why couldn’t I have been born rich and not so excellent looking? Why does it always seem to work for the other guy?
My life took a turn in February of 2009. Even though it wasn’t really time to retire age wise, I did it anyway. My responsibilities were greater than just punching the ancient time clock and then making my deliveries and then punching the ancient time clock to go home. I really owned the route and two trucks so the responsibility was at times overwhelming. For 18 and a half years, forgive me for the cliche’, I literally found myself married to my two trucks. I worked in the same industry for the previous 18 and a half years but it was for the company and not on an independent contractor basis. Jumping on and off trucks for 37 years and then reflecting back over those years caused me to realize the many opportunities I missed in the lives of my children as they were growing up.
Be with you I am not reaching for sympathy here but as in the case of many other families it was mom who went to the choir concerts in the middle of the day. It was mom who was able to concentrate the track meets. Unless the band concerts were in the evening it was mom who was able to hear from the sour notes to the top where they became a pleasure to hear. Again I am not in quest of sympathy because we are a close knit family. I just came to the conclusion that things could have been different. Life really is too fleeting to find out we missed out on one of our greatest assets. Family is truly that.
I saw the same pattern happening with the five gorgeous grandchildren we have now been blessed with. I was not going to let history repeat itself. I was determined to rectify the circumstances. I came to a top of life fed up sufficient that I sold the route and the two trucks and I started a search for a program on the internet that would make me a work at home grandpa. I needed something that could generate a significant income yet I could still have the time to devote to the special activities that my grandchildren are caught up in. After testing several programs I have found one that can fulfill my needs and I am now running my own home-based internet business that has the potential to do fantastic things financially. Better yet is the fact that it affords me the time to concentrate some of those special events that I previously had missed.
Opportunities have been much better with my new home based internet business. I have had the privilege of spending an entire morning attending my small granddaughter’s graduation from preschool. With the flexibility in my schedule now I spent another entire morning watching my grandson compete in his field day at teach. I saw every event he competed in. With my new business band concerts are no longer a problem even if they happen to be during the day. My life has become more balanced and i guess I would have to say that life is excellent.
